Scott Park Improvement Project

We are in the process of applying for a matching grant from the State of Illinois that would improve and enhance Scott Park in Neponset.

It is our hope to raise money for a park pavilion complete with picnic tables, to be constructed behind the community building. there will also be a handicapped-accessible restroom, a Veterans' memorial, as well as several other improvements. The additional improvements may include games such as bags, horseshoes, disk golf, and a plan to plant gardens to support pollinators. We welcome and appreciate ideas and input.

The total cost for the projects is estimated at $100,000. Due to the 50/50 nature of the grant, we need to raise $50,000. While this is a big goal for a community the size of Neponset, we believe it is necessary to keep moving the community forward. We have a separate account for the Veteran's Memorial as it cannot be in with the DNR grant application.

Neponset is fortunate to have Neponset Grade School, which is still Pre-K thru 8th grade, Martin Engineering's World Headquarters and Research Center two (2) churches, Neponset Historical Society, Community State Bank, The Oasis Bar and Grill, Hometown Express gas station, Neponset Truck and Tractor, several other community organizations, affordable housing and a lot of nice people. Our goal is to recognize and appreciate what we do have and improve on that in hopes of improving the quality of life and attracting more people to Neponset.
