BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Community Building

June 21, 2023

 

 

Attending board members: Sue Aldred, Matt Benecke, Jill Dzekunskas, Emali Porter, and Mayor Dave Mueller. Absent: Sid Dev and Julius Maes.

 

Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.

Emali Porter was sworn in as Trustee for the Village of Neponset.

 

May Board Minutes, May Treasurers’ Report, and June Invoices payable

Motion to approve Matt Benecke, 2nd Sue Aldred, roll call vote all ayes.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Water and Sewer – Sid Dev/Markus Chapman – The sewer plant is about $250,000 to repair. Sue Aldred made a motion to spend $1,000 to repair the water line to the Fire Department and add a shut-off valve. This doesn’t include the concrete. 2nd Jill Dzekunskas, roll call vote, all ayes.

Community Events & Building Permits – Emali Porter –Discussion on Picnic Day results.

Police & Ordinances - Sue Aldred –. Working on ordinances and ordinance violations.

Garbage & Emergency Plan – Jill Dzekunskas – Oil change and inspection on the garbage truck are scheduled.

Streets – Matt Benecke – Matt Benecke made a motion to spend $25,000 for spray on Main, Maple, N 4th, N 5th, and possibly Poplar. 2nd Jill Dzekunskas. Roll call vote, all ayes.

Village Equipment – Julius Maes – Nothing to report

Finance, Insurance, License & Fees – Dave Mueller – Monthly budget discussion.  

 

MAYOR’S REPORT

Shelter in the Park – Account balance $33,439.97.

Electronic Sign – Waiting on BNSF to return the call about an easement for our sign.

Housing Rehab Round 2 –Residents will be notified when the next step is going to start.

IDNR Grant – Work will be starting next spring.

Planning Committee – Sue Aldred made a motion to accept the suggested people for the Plan Commission (Barb Safiran, Amy Dev, Frank Shlindwein, Cliff Stetson) 2nd Jill Dzekunskas, roll call vote, all ayes.

A Motion to Adjourn made by Matt Benecke, 2nd  Sue Aldred, motion carried.
