BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Community Building

September 21, 2022

 

Attending board members: Barb Safiran, Sue Aldred, Sid Dev, Matt Benecke, Mandy Donovan, Julius Maes, and Mayor Dave Mueller.  

 

Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.

 

Guest – Ken Snyder – discussion on an easement with his property.

 

August Board Minutes, August Treasurers’ Report, and September Invoices payable

Motion to approve Barb Safiran, 2nd Sue Aldred, roll call vote all ayes.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Water and Sewer – Sid Dev/Markus Chapman – Sid Dev made a motion to approve the generator contract for $861/year. 2nd Sue Aldred, roll call vote all ayes.

Community Events & Building Permits – Barb Safiran –one Permit for a garage on Harlan Street. Barb is working on Halloween.

Ordinances and Garbage Collection – Sue Aldred –. Thank you to Sue Aldred for all her hard work on the ordinance violations. Some residents are putting out too much garbage.  Only 6 bags are allowed. Residents also need to only burn on burn days, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The fire must be put out by 8:00 pm.

Police, Emergency Plan – Mandy Donovan – After having surgery, Eric would like to work a few hours. He will be getting a doctor's note to return to work.

Streets – Matt Benecke – Ace in the Hole has completed their job on the streets this year.

Village Equipment – Julius Maes – Everything is working well. Thank you to Raymond Robinson and Dan Erdman for cleaning up the Voels building lot.

Finance, Insurance, License & Fees – Dave Mueller – Monthly budget discussion.  

 

MAYOR’S REPORT

Housing Rehab Round 2 – We received 30 surveys. The next step is in October.

Nextlink Contract – Working on negotiation with New Net Wave and Nextlink.

Sidewalk Ordinance- working on it

Animal Ordinance- working on it.

Electronic Sign – waiting on the delivery of the sign.

Shelter in the Park/Concrete for Cannon – The cannon is getting rehabilitated.

Ordinance 778 – Drug & Alcohol Policy/Ordinance – Sid made a motion to approve the Drug and Alcohol Ordinance, 2nd Matt Benecke, roll call vote all ayes.

IDNR Grant- Mandy made a motion to approve the IDNR Park Grant, 2nd Barb Safiran, roll call vote all ayes.

Clean-up Days- The north side of town will be on Tuesday, October 18th. The south side of town will be on Thursday, October 20th.

Residents need to clean up their yards.

All dogs must be registered with the Village.

 

A Motion to Adjourn made by Sid Dev, 2nd Barb Safiran, motion carried.
